Everyday, people all over the world, make money running a business on the Internet. The Internet is a great way to start a business with little to no money. The following five steps will provide some suggestions on getting your online business started.
1. Register a website. This is the only expense that you will initially have and it’s worth every penny. This is vital to giving your online business a professional feel and for less than $10 a month you can register a web address and get the pages hosted.
2. Create a blog. A blog is short for web log. It’s an online journal of sorts that anyone can read and comment on. Some bloggers make over $100,000 a year by ad revenue. The most common source of ad revenue is Google. The easiest way to start a blog is through Blogger.com which is owned by Google and completely free.
3. Build your own industry specific news group. For example, a news group about sports equipment. You could run articles about the latest equipment that is coming to market. Sell ad space in the articles to sports companies. Also offer press release publication for a small fee to the industry.
4. Sell products from your website. This could be anything from homemade crafts to items that you purchase at wholesale and resell. One of the more common methods to do this is to get connected with a "blind shipper". Basically when someone places an order with your website, the request is sent to a warehouse and your label is placed on it.
5. Start your own online directory. While there are thousands of them out there now, most are poorly put together. The best web directories make a lot of money by charging a fee to review your website and if approved, listed it in the proper category. There are many scripts that you can purchase that automates the listing process, but I run my directory, Kahmer.com, completely by hand. Either way, make sure that you review every submission for accuracy and quality.
